Everyone is wondering what is next for social networks and the answer is Foursquare. Foursquare encourages individuals to go out and explore their neighborhoods. With the use of a Smartphone, the person can download the Foursquare app which will list all the places in the area, then they check in at the location on the phone.   

What does this mean for you and your business? This means more people will see your business without you doing anything. This is the greatest way to advertise and you don’t even need to do anything. To be honest someone might have already added you but, to make yourself stick out add a reason for someone to come in!  Add a mayor!

What’s a Mayor you ask? Well a mayor is someone who comes to your business the most and checks into Foursquare. So what does that mean to you? He or she is your most loyal customer which means you would want to treat them right. So you advertise on Foursquare that your Mayor will get something for free, or a discount. This will drive people to compete for your Mayorship. Pizza Hut gives away free breadsticks to their Mayor with the purchase of a large pizza and the San Diego Zoo gave away a mystery prize to the Mayor of the Panda exhibit after Sept 1st. The possibilities could be endless.

Some places just don’t give their mayors a reason to buy something but they give them a less discount. Radio Shack gives a 20% discount to its mayor while giving others a 10% discount to all who show they are members of Foursquare. 

Get on board with foursquare and be the first in your neighborhood to give incentives to your customers because they will remember you as being the first. This is the newest form of social networking and it is even integrated into Facebook and Twitter so their friends will know where they have been and comments they have about your business.  The future is now, the future is foursquare.
