Tautology Club is trending all over the internet today, but a lot of people still don't know what Tautology is all about. There is a Tautology Club on Facebook in existence, as well as a comic strip from the Facebook profile that is being passed around. So what exactly is Tautology? It involves the use of dissimilar words to express the same thing twice.

In logical terms, Tautology is a formula that will always be true in any given scenario. When considering Tautology in terms of rhetoric, it simply means that something is being repeated unnecessarily.

Tautology (rhetoric), repetition of meaning, using different words to say the same thing twice, especially where the additional words fail to provide additional clarity when repeating a meaning.

The Facebook Tautology Club was perhaps formed in response to all of the useless Facebook groups that have recently been created. The Tautology Club on Facebook has the following description on the profile page: "The Tautology Club is the Tautology Club." The privacy setting reads: "Open. All content is public." The recent news section reads: "The most recent news is the most recent news."

The Tautology Club profile picture reads: "If 1,000,000 people join this group it will have 1,000,000 people in it." The Facebook Tautology Club is basically making fun of Facebook groups that are trying to attain a certain number of members. Facebook groups of this nature include: "Can This Pickle Get More Fans Than Nickelback" and "Can This Onion Ring Get More Fans Than Justin Beiber."

Head on over to the Tautology Club on Facebook where you can join a club about Tautology on Facebook and repeat yourself.

I don't know whether you've looked at it recently, I love the suggestion to make George W Bush an honorary member. They use this quote. I've just joined.

"It's very important for folks to understand that when there's
more trade, there's more commerce." —George W. Bush

There are multiple Facebook clubs, sparked by the comic, which is originally from XCKD.
