The Wikileaks Website Appears to be Under Some Kind of DDoS Attack

This 'distributed denial of service attack' occurred just hours ahead of leaked secret embassy cables.

Wikileaks tweeted:

We are currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack.

Despite the attack, the secret cables Wikileaks was planning to release, appear to have already been leaked by a German news magazine.

The Guardian has now published that they have seen more than 250,000 classified cables from United States embassies, many sent as recently as February this year.

"The Guardian can disclose that Arab leaders are privately urging an air strike on Iran and that US officials have been instructed to spy on the UN's leadership."

Wikileaks has now stated that El Pais, Le Monde, Speigel, Guardian & NYT will publish many US embassy cables tonight even if their website is unable to.

They are urging Twitter users to use the hashtag #cablegate to discuss the release so far.
