The Twitter rumors are true and Wordpress was down for quite some time.

Wordpress confirmed the news themselves earlier on Twitter:

WordPress.com is down, we're working on restoring service now

But an hour ago confirmed everything was back to normal:

We are back running at full capacity now. Closely monitoring services for any aftershocks. - Matt Mullenweg

According to Techie Buzz, millions of blogs were taken down when Wordpress went down, including their own.

Their solution if you find your blog down is to log in to FTP and delete the WP Stats plugin as that is what is causing the problem and preventing your site being able to load.

Wordpress put out their own summary of the outage, saying that Wordpress was down for 110 minutes and affected 10.2 million blogs. This was their worst outage in four years.

They say that an unscheduled change to their core router by a datacenter provider messed up their network and just broke the site.

They will put out more information when they know more.
