Winner of the 2008 Independent Games Festival award for Design Innovation and Technical Excellence, World of Goo is a physics-based construction game for all ages which challenges its players to overcome obstacles and gravity by creating structures made of innocent goo balls. Goo balls live in the beautiful World of Goo and don’t realize that they are in the game and extremely delicious. Users test and refine logistical skill in this innovative five-chapter story for Mac, PC and WiiWare.
2D BOY, a California-based team of two former Electronic Arts employees, Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, created World of Goo while utilizing free wi-fi coffee shops in their hometown of San Francisco. With the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation of the independent 2D Boy team and a “no money but a whole lot of ‘love,’” mantra, 2D BOY and World of Goo are receiving critical acclaim.

2D Boy is a core team of two guys, Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler. Their swanky San Francisco office is whichever free wi-fi coffee shop they wander into on a given day. Kyle Gabler is one of the guys behind the Experimental Gameplay Project, and recently a game designer and magic rapid prototyper with Maxis & EA. Ron Carmel was previously a game developer with EA's pogo.com. Before that, he developed visual fx software and immersive haptic simulations. |
