Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, the man credited professor with the feat of creating the world wide web, fell for an online scam this past year when he was trying to buy a friend a Christmas gift.

The site looked real, the payment process looked authentic, but it wasn't. Though he only lost a few dollars, the greater point in this stands out brightly.

If he can fall for it, so can you. Be prepared, research and know when to laugh things off. The internet can be a big scary place, unless you know what you're doing and learn as you go.
