The world's cheapest car, priced $2,500 brand new, will be unveiled for public display in world's largest democracy next month and will hit the road in April.

The manufacturers, Tatas, one of India's oldest business families since the days of British colonial rule have yet to put in safety features that will make the car eligible for sale in US and European markets.

After battling thousands of angry protestors, a cross-country move for a nearly completed car factory, a skeptical car industry, and a nosedive in its share price, Tata Motors (TTM) finally has a launch date for its People's Car, the Nano.
