WWDC 2008 - iPhone, Macbooks and voip, oh my!
It's one of many products that will be unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in California. Over 5,000 attendees were at the last conference, and more are expected this time.
Read NowPublic coverage on the new iPhone here.
Well, after losing my first blog entry of the day, I'm trying again.I'm in line waiting for the WWDC keynote. New iPhone here we come...maybe.
The scene is eerily like a zombie movie...thousands of Mac fans, most carrying Starbucks, ambling silently toward the end of the line.
I'd like to say I'm near the front, having arrived at before 6am, but I'm about a block and a half away around the back side of Moscone West.

You're shocked, we're sure, that speculation surrounds Apple and its plans.
That rumours swirl and hearsay happens and scuttlebutt freely passes from one mouth to ear. You're shocked, yes, we know.It is the season, however, when gossip grows to gargantuan proportions. Today is the opening day of one of Apple's two major annual events: its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). And to kick off the event, CEO Steve Jobs will take the stage to do...what, exactly?
Check back here for live coverage of Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference. I'll be blogging from inside Moscone West in San Francisco, where Apple CEO Steve Jobs is expected to take the stage at 10 a.m. PDT. We expect to hear about a 3G iPhone, Mac OS X 10.6, and an iSpaceship. We're not sure about that last one.For more reading, here's what I think we'll see. And this is where we're pooling together our WWDC coverage, including news stories, photos, and video.
It’s time for another edition of Wrong in Public, the Steve Jobs Keynote Prediction game in which yours truly tries (and usually fails) to determine what the Apple CEO will announce during one of his periodic addresses to the masses. Today’s game is brought to you by AT&T, the number “3” and the letter “G,” and the service formally known as .Mac.
Analysts have said Apple needed to upgrade the
iPhone's Internet connection to work over so-called 3G, or
third-generation, wireless networks to hit its target of selling 10
million of the devices by the end of 2008. An 8 gigabyte model is to
sell for $199 starting July 11.The addition
of global-positioning technology improves the iPhone's accuracy in
locating users. Current versions use a combination of cell phone towers
and Wi-Fi locations to do the same thing.

Well on Europe's end I guess folks are more concerned if they will be able to purchase the new 3G releases without the T-Mobile or assigned providers services to still be able their so-used-to 3rd party apps. The most attractive thing that Apple did come up with is of course the price point of $199 which is way lower than the competitor namely the new 8GB Nokia N95. Heads all turned to iPhone 3G no doubt. But with a catch.
