WWDC 2011: Development Conference Ahead of OSX Lion
WWDC (Worldwide Developers' Conference) is always a hot ticket for Mac software developers. WWDC 2011, though, sold out in less than 24 hours.
This year's WWDC is so hot because it takes place ahead of the Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion) release. Lion will bring the Mac desktop environment and the iOS (iPhone) environment closer together, and so third-party software developers need every advantage in getting their products to market quickly and accurately.
This is a sea change for OSX, which hasn't seen a true UI shift in years. Will developers like it? Apple seems to think so, but, if we're honest, developers don't have to like it: it's happening.
When is WWDC 2011?
WWDC 2011 takes place from June 6-10 at San Francisco's Moscone Center. If you really, really want tickets, you can probably scare some up on ebay, but be warned: they will not be cheap. WWDC tickets are already showing up for over $2,500. Original ticket price was $1,600. Hey, this is Apple. How budget did you think it would be?
