Nintendo's Wii became the number one console on the market, despite being released after the Xbox360, due to it's low price and innovative controls. Well, Microsoft's dropped the price on all their Xbox 360s, making the 'the Arcade' $199 – $50 less than the Wii.
Starting tomorrow, Microsoft is slashing the official retail pricing for most of its Xbox 360 consoles by $50 USD.  As a result, the 60GB Xbox 360 "Premium" consoles will retail for $299.99 USD, while the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite will be priced at $399.99 USD.  The big exception is the $279.99 USD Xbox 360 Arcade model which gets a beefier $80 USD price cut, making its price $199.99 USD as of September 5th.  This officially makes the Xbox 360 Arcade the cheapest home console in the North American market, beating Nintendo's $249 USD Wii.

The Wii is the clear winner on the casual gamers Market, Let see if MS get the edge on the Hardcore Gamers with this price drop.

Thanks for the GS solracarevir! At the moment I think it's just a race to finish second and beat the PS3. In another interview they basically said as much.

The drop in the 360's prices are welcomed. But in my country, what we badly need is actually an official launch + support from Microsoft themselves.

It’s all well and good MS slashing prices all over the world but it very much seems like the bank effect, they give you a good rate at first then change the rate when you’re in. I think MS should look into maybe giving something back to its existing users and not just new users...even discount hardware would be great.

The really good thing about the Wii is the experience, this is totally different type of game, and you can really share with all your family with this console. We play sometimes and when we do, we play together, my wife Yusnan and my 2-year-old daughter Stella.

Even though the price cut on the Xbox 360, I have only bought the controller, 'cause games like Gears of War or Devil May Cry are on a PC available version, which I rather to buy and play them on my Macbook Pro. In the other hand I think the Wii's gameplay is far away from any other gaming console outside there, and well you see I bought the PlayStation 3 'cause it's such a great entertainment machine with a lot of stuff that you can also find on the Xbox 360 (not to even mention the Blu-Ray player). See ya!

Xbox 360 Controller. Fun and addicting!
Bought the Xbox 360 a few months back and decided to take a photo for the controller. Nothing special about the photo. Just a close-up.

The new 'home' environment MS put it sure looks alot like the Wii too, tho I still like my X360 over the Wii!
