Zune software update and Zune HD coming September 15
In anticipation of the Zune HD to hit stores soon, Microsoft has announced in a newsletter that it will roll-out a major update to its Zune software, possibly to version 4.0. The updated software will be available to download for free on September 15 - the same day the Zune HD will be officially launched.
Microsoft will likely hold off until launch day to reveal the new features, however, bloggers have hinted at the possibility of an apps marketplace and increased interoperability between the Zune HD and HD recordings from Windows Media Centre.
What is new with the Zune HD? Here are a few of the specifications: a 3.3-inch OLED multitouch screen, HD Radio, 720p HD video output, wireless sync via WiFi and new Web Broswer with on-screen keyboard, and an NVIDIA Tegra processor for video.
The birth of the Zune HD will also signal the fasing out of all other Zunes currently being sold. Microsoft plans to offer the Zune HD (16GB and 32GB models) as its sole mp3 player to consumers.

This is great. I myself have been a fan from the begining (I own the original 30GB model) but I was a bit disapointed with the last major software update. I didn't think that it was as good as the software that came with the device. But, I am keeping an open mind, and am glad to hear yet another update is coming our way. Keep up the great stuff Microsoft.
