BBC News Site Hits Turbulence

Now I don't feel so bad about NowPublic's own occasional hiccup...

The BBC news website was down for over an hour at lunchtime today due to an apparent technical glitch with its servers.

A spokeswoman for the British broadcasting behemoth told El Reg that the Beeb had been "experiencing technical difficulties", and it hoped to bring the service back online as soon as possible.

The article above really pays out on BBC, but I quite like their news site, especially "Week in Pictures".

Now Public is consistently the slowest site I visit. This is probably due to all the Java and other enhancements on each page;. But at least it doesn't crash all together.

jordan, The BBC site is usually very quick and considering the amount of traffic its to be commended. There are occasions when NowPublic runs like a snail and it takes forever to get anywhere. I find restarting the browser helps but not always. Good stuff.
