Charter Communications officials believe a software error during routine maintenance caused the company to delete the contents of 14,000 U.S. customer e-mail accounts.
A spokeswoman for the St. Louis-based company says there's no way to retrieve the messages, photos and other attachments erased from inboxes and archive folders across the country.

No sh*t, Sherlock! Anyone advised this to Charter? How come they can't restore those from backups???
