It's hard to imagine watching a sweeping, epic Bollywood film squished down to fit a tiny mobile phone-sized screen, but with a potential audience of 233 million mobile phone users, it's obviously worth trying.

This month, one of Bollywood’s biggest film names is releasing the first ever serial for the mobile phone in India.

Rajat Rajshri’s media company has been on the front lines of digital content delivery in India, producing specialized content for handheld devices and releasing movies simultaneously online and in the theaters. This time, Rajshri has produced a “90-episode series, with three minutes per episode, and it is in the humour genre.”

With an estimated 233 million mobile phone users in India and the world’s largest movie industry, India is a place to keep an eye on for new ideas in digital content production and delivery.
