New eBay CEO John Donahoe has been speaking on some of the company’s plans for the online auction tool over the past couple of months, announcing upcoming changes that the company will make in order to improve consumer experiences, boost sales and increase engagement. Now, eBay is expected to finally unveil some of these changes to its online marketplace today.

While some of the overarching themes that Donahoe has spoken of revolve around search tactics and other ways of getting products in front of buyers in a more effective manner, the details to this end involve streamlining the purchasing process. Part of this will include an additional reduction in listing and gallery fees in the US by 50% in order to encourage sellers to post more items with images. This particular change should take place on Feb. 20, reports PC World. eBay had already announced plans to reduce bulk listing fees.

eBay is also hoping to leverage its payment gateway PayPal in order to present safer transaction options. This will likely be closely involved with the recent acquisition that PayPal made, Fraud Sciences, which deals in online risk management. With combined efforts in shifting search manifestations (which includes PayPal data integration) for consumers and introducing practical reductions in fees for sellers, perhaps eBay will finally be able to get its company back on the right track in order to see the type of growth and earnings it’s looking for.
