Second Life - Episode 1 (Baram Voom)
Second Life has set its eyes on entering the hyper-competitive Korean market.

A new wave of social network services have set their targets  in Korea, including:  Second Life, Myspace, Youtube, Entropia Universe.

Translating from a friend in Korea, who's quite the man on point for all things new media and online journalism (http://blog.naver.com/soonchoi):

Second Life has been receiving lots of media attention in Korea as it's gathering a significant "마니아" or "mania" -- fan community in Korea.

Second Life has chosen Korea as its next target, following its efforts in the U.S., Europe and Japan.  It thinks Korea to be an ideal "test-bed" given Korea's eager experimentation with new platforms and because Korean IT infrastructure is second to none.

Philip Rosedale, CEO of Linden Lab, stated that he will continue to add user-value to Second Life services and will develop mobile applications using open-source software.

Second Life intends to adapt to the Korean market by using Korean-style avatars and user-interface.  It will expand its entertainment content based on Korean video-games, music and celebrity culture.

There are criticisms of course, Korean-users complain about the slow speed when using Second Life and the lack of new creative services and products available on the site.

...more to follow...as there's more to translate...
