Rolly may not win any prizes for bettering humanity, but it's, well, weird, at least.
LAS VEGAS--The most curious gadget I have seen so far at CES is a small, spinning cylinder at Sony's booth called the Rolly. It's a combination of digital-music player, portable speaker set and, um, dancing robot. As the Rolly plays a song stored in its 2 gigabytes of flash memory, it can also spin itself around and flap the covers of its speakers in tune to the beat.
You can also remotely control the thing from a Bluetooth phone, and you can program the sucker with new dance steps. It's supposed to go on sale sometime in the first half of this year; Sony won't name a price, but a publicist suggested that $500 could be a reasonable estimate.

I watched one of these in action a few months ago, and while it's certainly entertaining to watch, the interface doesn't seem too intuitive or user-friendly. The person demonstrating it (a manager at Sony) had to pick it up and fiddle with it for a minute or so after each song to keep it in "dance" mode, with numerous false starts. Volume, song selection and other functions were all controlled by the two wheels, either by touching them with your finger or rolling the Rolly back and forth, which made fine adjustments a bit awkward. I also didn't see any display (there may be one on the bottom), so I don't know how you're supposed to know what songs are available or what you've chosen.
If you're looking for a performing robot, this is a very entertaining one. If you're more interested in a music player, I'd give it a miss.

Cuando actúa como reproductor autónomo tiene una autonomía de 5 horas, por las cuatro y medio que aguanta cuando recibe música del PC o se pone a bailar.
