Web Productivity and Tech Tools Workout by Barbara Iverson and Amy Gahran
Live, or almost live, from the Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ) annual meeting, held in Washington, D.C. this year, we bring you our lecture notes qua presentation via a shared Google document. This post is a bit of self-promotion, but for our useful tech and productivity tips workshops.
Preparing our presentation from Colorado and Chicago, with road trips thrown in along the way, we can endorse the shared doc method of organization and preparation. And there is no email involved once you set up the sharing!
If I can insert some pop-psychology into this, I'd even say that you end up doing better work because you go to the shared doc when you want to, not when somebody tweaks your conscience or interrupts your workflow with an email.
Not to neglect the contents of this useful tip sheet, use it to get some insight into Linkedin, Near-time.net (social collaboration software and a CMS to boot), Facebook, Google trends, Twitter as a tool, the ever-useful Furl, tag clouds, and some new things: picnik.com (free, online , integrated imaging software), and Gigapan.
Visit the site. Drop me a line. We love to share the tools, tricks and shortcuts we have spent hours figuring out so that others can shorten that slope on the learning curve. If your work style could use a few tech tweaks, talk to us.
