Borders book stores filed for bankruptcy protection on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011. The Borders bankruptcy has forced the book seller to close around 200 stores, with the possibility of shuttering another 75 more.

The Borders store closing list features outlets in states all over the US. Borders stores that remain open will operate as they always have. They will still honor gift cards and the reward program.

Does anyone know what happens to the books the can't sell when the doors finally close?

My guess is that those books that they can't sell will be boxed up and sent either to other Borders locations that are not closing or to the nearest distribution center.
