Google Apps Marketplace Launched: 'The Power Of The Cloud'
Google Apps Marketplace - A Way For Google To Make Applications Easier
Google officially announced the launch of its application platform Google Apps Marketplace. The new online store will offer cloud-based applications that Google has no particular expertise in. Instead, all applications are designed by third-party vendors. The catch is that all the online business software sold will be compatible with Google's own products and applications.
Moreover, it is a usability issue. Google claims it is trying to ease the experience of business customers who are forced to purchase applications from multiple vendors and end up with a "fractured experience," where each application exists in its own silo. Once installed, applications from Google Apps Marketplace interact with user's Google calendar and email. The need to sign in separately to each application will also be eliminated.
Google says more than fifty companies are now selling their applications in the store. Some of the featured apps include project management software Manymoon, web conferencing software Dimdim and payroll application Intuit Online Payroll. From finance to GSA deployment, it seems Google Apps Marketplace has assembled quite a full range of business applications.
The concept of cloud computing is something Google has been advancing as "the power of the cloud." Just recently, Google bought DocVerse as part of its "cloud" vision.
The Google Apps Marketplace offers products and services designed for Google users, including installable apps that integrate directly with Google Apps. Installable apps are easy to use because they include single sign-on, Google's universal navigation, and some even include features that integrate with your domain's data.
