Hello World,
This is a true story based on the incident happened in my life on March 15th, 2009 and my name is Himanshu Kundra and I am an International student at Simon Fraser university studying engineering. So, coming back to the story, this incident happened when I was coming back from work at a gas station and I was headed towards my home. I was walking towards my home as usual which is about 15 minutes away from my workplace after getting off at 10:30pm.
All of a sudden I saw a homeless kind of guy walking towards me. As he was passing by me he asked me for the spare change, but I refused to give him any spare change. All of a sudden he ran in front of me and started asking for change and saying that “what’s the time at your watch”. I replied its 10:30 pm. He said “what are you carrying in your bag”. I replied “it is my school bag. Then he asked me “what do you have in your pockets. Luckily I had nothing in my pockets and my wallet was in my school bag. He said very angrily “give me your firkin bag; otherwise I am going to kill you with my knife”. That time he pulled up his knife on me. I got scared and showed him my pockets again. Then I checked my back pockets, I had my phone in it. I pulled out my phone he said “show me your phone”. I gave him my phone and told him to go away from me. He ran immediately after, he was yelling at me. During this whole course he attempted to stab me twice with his knife but I got lucky.
Immediately after I ran towards surrey central and asked for help from a taxi driver. He let me use his phone and I called cops and explained my situation. The cops came immediately after two minutes, but it was too late to catch that bastard. I was so scared that night that I was shivering and I told everything to cops in his car. They said if we find anything we will let you know. Then the cop gave me ride home and after coming home I told the whole story to my friends online and they cancelled the service.
While reporting the incident to the cops I asked them can’t you guys just track him via GPRS because my cell phone was still alive. The cop did not reply and said we cannot do it and I knew that he was saying a lie to me because if they can’t track the number and know where the person is how are they going to stop the terrorist activities. Why don’t they hire the hackers to stop these activities and why are they letting these drug addicts to create crimes and scare the innocent people.
From that day I am so angry with the system here that I carry my own butcher knife with me always for my own safety and if I see somebody like him again I am definitely going to stop him, no matter what it takes because I am here on my student visa I don’t want to ruin my residency status, I could have opposed that guy but I did not wanted due to my residency status the cops will definitely give preference or lead to the Canadian citizen rather than Indian citizen. Moreover, I told him the guy is White. I wanted to chase him right away and told let’s go and chase him after but he said “the other officers are looking for him”. I knew nobody will be able to identify him other than me.
So, readers watch next Whaley area, the most notorious area in the world I would say and make sure you carry a butcher knife with you just in case, “joking”.
Thank you so much for listening and please drop me a line if you have any comments.

Himanshu, thats pretty epic. I was doing my essay when you were telling your story at the open lab. He tried to stab you twice? So lucky you got away. I dont get why the cops cant track your phone....
What happens to them? Would he sell it to a pawn shop? Did you cancel the plan so he cant use it?
