Located on West Broadway between Cambie and Yukon is the Afghan Horsemen- apparently the first Afghan owned and operated restaurant in Canada.

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, I strongly recommend this restaurant. Quite simply, you get to eat on the floor. There aren’t too many restaurants where you can do this. Now, mind you, there is a low table where your food is placed; however, you yourself are low down on cushions. My party and I were definitely impressed.

Not altogether surprisingly, The Afghan Horsemen serves Afghan food, and once you get your head around that, you’ll likely enjoy a good meal. While I am in no way an expert on the stuff, I can say that the food was very tasty. Everything is explained well on the menus, and the servers are very helpful.

There is a drink served here whose name evades me… it is tropical- definitely with pineapple juice or something similar- that is served in a funky bowl-like dish. It is very good, and the alcohol in it is ample- a couple of these will leave you in a mild state of drunkenness.
