www.theaglocochallenge.com Also, Check out the new Agloco Challenge BLOG

Have you heard of Agloco yet? If you havent yet, it about time you did. Agloco is a new website that is being founded by a group of students, 8 of wich are current Stanford business school students. The aim is to use internet advertising to make money. Google, yahoo, and other large search engines use links to advertise companies and products. Everytime a user clicks on those links, a company pays anywhere from .01-.15 cents.

The thoery behind Agloco is to partner with this large companies such as search engines, software companies, advertisers, On-line retailers, sponsers, etc. to make a profit. These companies will pay to advertise thier prodcucts on Agloco's ViewBar software. This software takes the form of a toolbar that rests at the bottom of your internet browser. It is spyware, pop-up, and spam free, and can be turned off at any time. At this point Agloco will allow you too keep this bar active for 5 hours a month. There is no need to change the way you search the internet or to click on any of the advertisments on the bar. None of your information is taken or sold.

For each hour you are on the internet you earn 1 share of the company, you will also be paid monthly dividends from Agloco from the profits they make. If you refer people to join the site is where it gets interesting. You can make quite a bit of money doing this in theory, as you get paid for every hour they search as well. It costs nothing to join, and you will not be charged at any time.

I thought this was an interesting concept and decided to keep track of my business with this company. I have opened my own account with Agloco, and am conducting a test to see how well this thoery will work and just how much money you can acutally make. It would help me a lot if you could at least take a look at Agloco and consider joining in my network so that my results will be more to-scale.

My website can be reached here, bookmark it to keep updated as I will do my best to keep it just that. Thanks for checking it out, and let the experiment begin! If you have any questions or comments just send me an email. I can be reached from my website under "Contact the Challengers."

Hey some great editing advice from hayao - and I am wondering whether you are interested in becoming an NP editor? Let me know - just send me an email from my member page.

While it is already a great honor to take part in NP's editing works, but to be invited by an editor is even more grand.  I look forward to that and I understand there are corresponding bigger responsibilities ahead an editor of an online news site, much more of a people-powered media portal.  But am interested to be informed what are the responsibilties and the tasks involved.  Are there particular quota for posted works to be edited, to be given comments to and to be critiqued to say it is a wrap for the day?

As one of the NowPublic editors, I’ve flagged your item as Incomplete. Right now this posting looks and feels like an advertisement. Please let us know more about this: Why did you decide to post this on NP? Is this the first company to offer this? Does it really work? etc.

Please feel free to write your own comment in response, but first check out NowPublic news values and our Code of Conduct. These will make your stuff better.

Hi

I beg to differ. Im not selling anything at all, I am trying to tell people about a new company that is going to be out there soon that they can all be involved in. It costs nothing, and theres no obligation. I believe this will be an internet revolution. As to how well it will work, Im not sure. That is why I have created www.theaglocochallenge.com! This is not an ad, its an invitation.

While it may sometimes be hard to notice it when advertising comes in the form of a news, we should all the more be vigilant and concerned to really stand up to protect this website from abuses.  We are given the freedom and we should all the more be responsible to note about our duties and responsibilities in growing the new, endless possibilities in new media like participatory journalism in general.

I also stand with the NP editors when they said or rate something if it is good stuff, incomplete or whatever there is to say about a particular work.  It should all the more inspire us that these people, principled as they are, make sure that we are served with the best and the quality content that we all deserve.

The web is already polluted with so much noise, abuses and exploitative stuffs, let us love this site the way we love our own so we would keep it from maturing and growing.

Again,

I do not believe this to be an ad. I would appreciate it if the comments about it being an ad would stop, or you may contact me personally to tell me to take the story down. Referring to the story as pollution or abuse is not something I appreciate. The website that I provided is not the company website, by my own research website. I made this website in the hopes that consumers (all of you) would take a look and decide for yourselves.  I believe this to be an internet revolution. Im not a nameless face posting ads, just someone who is trying to share what I think is important information to online users. Again, if you dont believe this to be true have the NP staff contact my email and take the issue further. Thanks

Hi there, Matt.  Some questions:

  • By having us sign up under YOUR website (instead of the company's), don't you get credit for our membership and receive additional "shares?"  Is that part of your impartial research?

  • Why is this company incorporated in Hong Kong?  Under Hong Kong law, the corporation can be set up with director and shareholder nominees and they don't have to disclose beneficial ownership, so none of the "shareholders" have any idea who actually owns the company.  The corporation can have one shareholder, and he can be the same as the owner.  This is set up when incorporating.  So... under the membership agreement, the company can terminate the membership - I love this - "AT ANY TIME AND FOR ANY REASON OR NO REASON", and all credits, rights, and obligations are voided - here's that little quote: "Upon termination of your account for any reason, including your
decision to terminate this Membership Agreement for any reason, any
accrued credits in your account will be deemed 'unearned' and will be
forfeited."  So for no reason, I can lose membership and any stock, and if, say for example, the company is sold as a shelf company, the only one who profits is the anonymous owner?

  • There are websites all over the Internet that sell "incorporate in Hong Kong" packages listing benefits like anonymity, no exchange controls, and multi-corporation anonymous transfers, all tax-free if earnings are made outside of Hong Kong.  They offer "prestigious addresses," "a packet of official stock certificates," "a required local secretary," and "easy bankruptcy."  There are other countries in which you can "virtually incorporate" that are tax-free.  So basically the only reasons to choose Hong Kong would be anonymity, no exchange controls, and the fact (as stated in the membership agreement on your site) that if anyone wants to sue, they have to do it in Hong Kong.  Can you tell me more about the laws of Hong Kong that I have to agree to abide by in case of disputes?

  • Another interesting part of the membership agreement is that you have to agree to give up any claim against the company after one year.  According to the IMF, the bankruptcy process in Hong Kong takes 1.1 years before claims are resolved.  Coincidence?

  • The majority of the membership agreement focuses on absolving the company from any fault if the companies advertised on the software scam or rip off the members.  Why do you think that's mentioned so often?

  • Do you think it's odd that if you don't give them your credit card number (for identification purposes), you can't participate?

Oh, and by the way, the great big JOIN NOW! link on your "research website" isn't working.  Just thought you should know.

P.S. You should really look up Agloco on NP and leave that nice follow-up message on everyones comment page. Im sure everyone will enjoy reading a response written from the im-better-than-you point of view!

As I said earlier, what the students are doing is nothing original, and the post does not highlight anything that is NEWs.

Think carefully about the project.

Ok

First of all, Im not entirely sure what the crap-princess is talking about. Its really cool that you did all that research as to where the company will claim it is operated from. I know that the founders are based out of California. There is no company on earth that doesnt have laws that protect them from lawsuits, so honestly im not really caring about the bulk of that reply, and frankly dont see what it has to do with my article. Second, there is no credit card verification involved, so im not really sure where that one came from. Both when I signed up and others that have signed up I have never heard of that happening. Thanks for the reply crap-princess, ill make sure to fix that link on my "research website."

You have opened my eyes to the truth.

Sure looks like a commercial to me. And it appears that a number of people think the same thing.
