TRULLY SUPER FEATHERS By Gillian Armstrong LAS VEGAS, NV. - The Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas was the venue Saturday night for what may be in the running for fight of the year honours as Juan Manuel “El Dinamita” Marquez boxed and brawled the brave Marco Antonio “The Babyface Assassin” Barrera to win a majority decision and the WBC Super Featherweight title. Final scores were 118-109 (X2), and 120-108. Those ringside had it much closer, the culmination of a night of puzzling judging. Marquez came into the fight knowing that he had to be the aggressor, and delivered on his pre-fight promises, testing Barrera from round one. The two Mexicans engaged in near equal extreme exchanges, with Barrera pushing especially hard in the last 10 seconds of each round. Barrera dazzled with his razor sharp jab throughout, doing some real damage to the left eye of Marquez. But Marquez rocked Barrera on a consistent basis with his own master jab, as well as hard body shots and right crosses.
