Let me start black history month a few weeks early. Barack Obama has plans of running for President of the United States, But will he be the first Black President or the 8th Black President? I know this posting will stir controversty but George Washington was not the first President of the U.S. Let's take a look at history.
Interesting read from Thaddeus in Memphis

He was considered the First under the Articles of Confederacy because he was the First Black President of the Continental Congress,... which were the decision makers, therefore he was the First in head!
at 10:54 on November 8th, 2008
He was not the 1st, he was the 3rd. He was the 1st to serve a full year term.
at 10:56 on August 8th, 2008
Sorry, some are non believers. John Hanson was the 1st president and was on the back of the $2 bill. There were 7 presidents before George Washington(actual 8th pres.). George was the 1st president under the new Consitiution.
Think: what else and who else has been covered up in history over time? Please don't let me start naming stuff.......
911. Weapons of mass destruction.....etc. Wake-up people they only tell you what they want you to hear. Plus, Wikipedia is not always right. I have found many things inaccurate about their information.......THINK!

Your right the goverment will only write and show you what they want you to see and what they think makes a great story...

Firstly your insane.
His title ad technically the third President of the congress assembly is technically in todays terms the president of the house of reps.
It was not an executive position.
also he was NOT black.
There was a john hanson in the past that was an indentured servant. - He was a white "slave" who wanted to come to america and came on someone elses dime.
He was working to pay it off.

On the contrary, sounds like a black man. Now for myself, speaking as a BLACK woman, I assume you and I learned different things. I learned that John Hanson was the first president of the states, meaning I set out to find my own truth not what anyone had told me through years of growing. Sometimes you have to look for books they don't want you to find and then you'll find what you may not want to see. Take Thanksgiving what really happened between the Indians and the Pilgrims?

You are abso1ute1y correct. If there weren't a cover up. Exp1ain why those whose fami1ies were not torn apart or raped by white supremacist, can not find where they oriqina11y came from. Burn everythinq and keep them from their 1anquaqe. If they 1earn to read or write our 1anquaqe, ki11 them. That's secretive to me. I've just chanqed my name back to my ancestory roots and I went throuqh and enourmous amount of troub1e to chanqe a name that was forced upon my ancestors. Why shou1d did I have to pay for it to be chanqed back? Paperwork stap1ed to another piece of paper cost me $258.00

This is a very interesting article. And I also love the comments from the readers....I appreciate the long and extensive response of Henrid33. I think John Hanson being the head of the Continental Congress does give him a perceived status of being President....but the title of President of the United States as we know it today or as we knew it back then with George Washington was definitely not one that John Hanson held. Granted....I have also seen the images of John Hanson on the back of the $2 bill and I also am aware of the conflicting image of the painting hung in our nations capital. So which is it? I will give it this much....John Hanson did hold a position of power more power than any "black" man at the time (even in the north). It was a significant position....but I await eagerly to find out the truth with solid evidence.

these crackas painted john hanson white just like they paintedn "jesus" white. and switched up the whole story and failed to mention the TRUTHS!

Its not about black and white, the guy that made that cracka was indeed wrong but you just stooped to his level. Its about ignorance, So you are too ignorant and a racist. So all you ignorant muthafuckas black or white need to bring it down a notch and keep the conversation intellectual
at 19:22 on November 20th, 2008
I hear you Bro....People need to understand that ignorance is a disease. The more people an ignorant person can get to stoop to their level, the better they feel. You know what they say, "Misory loves Company" and if you're a racist than its pretty obvious that you would be miserable.
at 19:23 on November 20th, 2008

First of all, asshole, do you know what cracka means? Cause I don't but I know what nigger means, all of the nastiest things you can think of. When he said Cracka he was talking about the government, that has been a term used to describe police, government bodies and wny other white oppressor. So slow down on the nigger nigger nigger, cause now your insulting all blacks, and you know that word hurts, don't be so quick to use it. You just showing ppl how ignorant you are yourself.

I believe this to be so true it changed my whole faith in the Holy Bible. Our people have been rob from there birthrights and this nation under their hands have failed time and time again. That is why a black man has to clean up house.

at 13:29 on April 15th, 2009
Thats because jesus hates negroes, just as everyone else does. Black's can't accomplish anything on their own.
God: 1-1 Thus says the lord, the negro is a hideous beast cast upon the world from satans belly, it is a must, a test and will of my people (Whites) to rid them from this earth. THUS SAYITH THY LORD

It is sad that pale skin Americans still will not give people color their rightful place in American History. They want us to fight in their wars and die, but still will not treat us with dignity and respect. John McCain feels that if you haven't been in the Military or if you don't agree with the war in Iraq, then you are not patriotic. But why should black americans continue to fight and die for a county that in the 21st century still treats them as second class citizens? My son was in the Military for eight years and fought in the Kuwait war, the mother of my granddaughter fought in Iraq. I still don't agree with the war or Senator John McCain.
We still don't make the same amount of money for the same jobs as whites do. Why? The United States of America often implies that other countries don't treat their citizens equally or fairly. But African Americans, Mexicans, Hispanic, etc., are treated unfairly on a daily basis.

Look, nobody is forced to enter in to the Armed Forces. You enlist on your on freewill. There is a lot of benefit that come with being in the services of this country. I was in the Marine Corps for 11 years and did not regret one year. I learn a lot, did a lot of travel.
When I got out and took the test for a government job, they gave me president over those who did not serve even when they scored higher than me. Because I served in the armed forces, they hired me over those who scored better than me. By the way I'm black.
When you signed up for the armed forces, you don't take an oath to agree with those in authority but to obey them.
Black american are dying in the street for nothing everyday. It amazing that the people that hate america won't leave it. People in other country are dying to get over hear. DYING TO GET OVER HERE!!!!! I don't agree with the government all the time, Lord knows I don't!
Freedom is never free, someone have to defend for this freedom. peace out!!

Thanks for the information, but its been hard for me to convince others when this article does not tell what the real color of President Hanson was. Now how do I prove that he was black?
at 10:47 on October 2nd, 2008
A couple things that anyone can easily check and verify:
1. At the top of this thread there is a photograph or daguerretype of John Hanson. However, this John Hanson is a Liberian Senator from the nineteenth century. The John Hanson that was the historical figure in the early years of the U.S. was a different John Hanson, who died in the 1780's. And he wasnt black. In fact, the first "photograph", the daguerretype, was invented in 1839, half a century after the "President" John Hanson had died. So there is no way that the black dude in the picture is the same John Hanson.
2. The scene depicted on the back of the $2 bill is of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The folks who are in the scene are the signers of the Declaration. The list of who the signers were, and in fact who each of the specific figures were in that scene can be easily looked up. John Hanson was not one of them, so it couldnt possibly be him on the back of the $2 bill. The person who appears to be depicted as somewhat darker than the others is Robert Morris.
My take: There are plenty of great and heroic figures in history that can be honestly claimed, there is no need to make up things and try to pass off myth as fact. Especially if the myth is easily falsifiable, as this one is.

oh my gosh i tell you my friend told me that we had a black prez before and i didnt think so .so i did a little research and found out the truth wow ! thats whats up

A free Black man
It says in the quran: "if you don't know, ask those who know.
I was told by a co worker that John Hanson was the first black pres. I did some research.
The first thing is that picture at the top. That's a picture of Senator John Hanson from Liberia. Who was one of the first men to help freed slaves actually go back to Africa and start their own country. He lived a hundred years after the president Hanson. It's a dis to even equate him with this other Hanson dude who PROBABLY OWNED SLAVES.
The second thing that bothers me is, they elected a slave president. At that time they had slaves in the north. So slave masters voted a black man pres. Some say his grandfather was a slave. In what part of amerikkka could a slave descendant be accepted as an equal in 1791. I repeat 1791 when they had slavery from New York to Georgia.
Last but not least. The two dollar bill. I collect coins and paper money so I actually have a few. On the back of the two dollar bill is the signing of the Declaration of Independence. a no brainer. John Hanson couldn't possibly be on it. BECAUSE HE WASN'T A SIGNER OF IT.
I'm voting for Obama because he's black. As a black man I think that's a more important reason than what he stands for. We need a shot of pride. Black boys need to know that if they do the right thing they too can become president. But what we don't need is a stretching of the truth or a twisting of facts.
Allah says in his book
Those who know not are not equal to those who know.
Seek knowledge not propaganda even if that propaganda comes from your brother
