Let me start black history month a few weeks early. Barack Obama has plans of running for President of the United States, But will he be the first Black President or the 8th Black President? I know this posting will stir controversty but George Washington was not the first President of the U.S. Let's take a look at history.

Mikaeel Abdul-Malik's is the first post to point out the obvious: The John Hanson who was third president under the Articles of Confederation PROBABLY OWNED SLAVES. The guy was from Maryland, lived and owned property 30 miles downstream from Geo. Washington, and we know George, like most of his neighbors, owned slaves. Most of the Founding Fathers did own slaves, be they from New York or Georgia. They had that disagreement over whether or not to consider slaves as human beings, and came to that despicable "3/5" decision. Do you think a group of men who believed pigmented skin was enough to de-humanize others would honestly follow the leadership of a man with dark skin? Don't believe everything people tell you, seek knowledge not just from words, but also from evidence.

This is a fucked up reason to vote for anyone. If you do so because of race or color, you are a racist, WORD. This Obama guy has yet to show his real birth certificate and will soon be removed from office. Is this the SHOT OF PRIDE BLACK BOYS NEED. A 7 % black, 43 % Arab, and 50 % white man lying his way to the top job and then decrowned. A shot needs to be made to keep socialism out of the Whitehouse.

Many people are discriminated on a daily basis not just blacks. Whether ur pretty girl or over wieght or disfigured or your nationality or your height etc. This whole country is ran on racism. I am Hispanic and white male and cause many black people have a negative outlook on whites they group all whites into the same category as being racist so they feel the need to to be racist back which continues the cycle. There are many racist people out there and theres alot of double standards out there for all races. I understand the animosity of important black individuals being left out of the history books but to compare white people from back then to now is just naive. Obama would have never made it this far if he was around the time of George Washington so to live in the past will slow us down from moving fwd and from the obvious polls we have been moving fwd but this country will never be perfect. The government is a business and anyone who is in government regardless of race is mostly there for the money not for the cause so you shouldnt expect anything less from the truth. There always be racism it is naive to think there eventually there will be equality. John Hansen was considerably the first president cause the upcoming USA didnt have all the bugs worked out of the government and he was the first to take a position which became more defined later on and with all great plans the first is a rough draft till you revise and get it right.

John Hansen wasnt the first black president of the united states, he was the first for the 13 colonial states. I am a black female who isn't racist--to be quite honest, the whole race thing is played out. Lets just talk about facts! Our african ancestors suffered and paved the way for us, now it's time we get over it and make something of ourselves.

O Get Over Haters, Its True. Did you expect it to remain a secret, lie ,or cover up forever. The truth is out now, accept it. The first President of the United States of America was indeed a BLACK man. His name is John Hanson. Reading is a great thing to do in the attempt to find accuracy, but researching things for your self is way more informative and beneficial for ones knowledge. I just would like to say people to day need to know that Obama not the first black President for the US Of America will that every come out all you see on TV/news about him beening the first. I love the fact in my time I am here to see this one and it shows it can be done over and over again too.

You all believe anything that people will tell you. Why not do your own research like I did then you will know that the man pictured just has the same name as the person who was "president" under the Articles of Confederation. There's no conspiracy by the "white man". Take the time to go the library and research Articles of Confederation or John Hanson and you be enlightened. In addition do you really think that in the south under the confederate flag in slavey times (1607 to 1865) and the Second Middle Passage you would have a black man running any let alone a white organization

Isn't Obama Mixed with Irish? Anyways, Obama may not be the first black president but the majority of this country recognizes him as the the first black president. This can lead to a huge change in this country. As a minority, I feel that this can benifit us. Another thing, i think he will do a lot better than Bush did.
Another thing. I hope it doesnt sound messed up or racist, but recognized as the first black prsident, I know that Obama Is not going to try to keep a good reputuaion because i know he doesnt want to be the known for ruining this country and on top of all that, he was a black president.
I dont follow politics but I am sure that Obama won for his ideas and not for his race.
Another thing many presidents had African in their blood.
But then again, humans originated from Africa.

I have few things to say to resolve this matter:
John Hanson was not the first president of the US, but was the first of the Continental Congress (created to allow each state to be independent from each other and was a common government). So he had power but was the president of the United States because the states were not yet completely United until the end of the Civil War (during which we even had 2 presidents at the same time).
At that time the southern states was using slavery far more than the northern states (yes the north had slaves it just was much need for them in the north) and slaves freed from the war (the revolutionary war also free slaves willing to fight, just as the civil war to come did) or escaped were not in political position. (think about it whether freed or escaped, at the time blacks still had no rights, no power, let alone even be considered more than a animal)
If, (but he wasn't the president of the US, nor black) he was ,then why all the hype about Obama? Then that make him the second............. Is that you would take that title (the 1st) away from him. The racist comments need to stop. The N-bomb and Cracker are derogatory terms used to insult our ancestors. Jesus was not black or white, (hate to bust your bubble) he was born in Jerusalem, which is in Asia that makes him middle eastern asian. ( no, tards as in looking like Iraqis explains the hair and beard)

Gee, I almost like you. Then you got carried away.
1. Your first point was important for those who did not know. Based on previous post it is true that there were a few.
2. Your second point is flawed, incorrect and just wrong at least as far as your closing statement is concerned. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that everyone knows that there was slavery in both the North and the South. What you failed to consider is all of the black people who "passed" either on their own or through careful placement of their white parents. Perhaps, you should debate less emotionally.
3.Your third point is circular. If it is true that the past has been suppressed then it makes perfect sense that Obama would be herald as the first black president. Since the accounts of John Hanson are largely dependent on oral traditions, I am not yet prepared to authenticate or denounce the claim without further research. And sweetie, Jesus was most certainly black (hate to burst your bubble). It doesn't matter where he was born. If he was born on a boat in middle of the ocean it wouldn't make him a fish. That was a very ignorant thing to say. A child is born to parents and that child is what their parents are. Will I debate with you the lineage of the Jews, no, not here.
4. I wonder if you know that black people cannot be racist. The criteria for racism is outlined in a book (the dictionary). Try not to be so sardonic. It is unattractive and weakens even the strongest of points

I can see that everyone on these pages is confused. I was told of a black president in church in the late 70's and has believed it ever since. The gentleman from Indian Hill, Ohio kept believing your research. I think you all really need to read the book "The lies my teacher told me" I think that will help your curiousity about history become at ease. If that is truly the case then let's consider that Jerusalem is the middle east, right? Let's all pull out a map. Based on plate tectonics - Israel - the middle east is located on the African continental shelf not the Asian continent which is as vast when compared to the African Continent. Everyone pull out your maps and see that body of water called the Suiz Canal is a man made-flooded area (Canal) designed to aid ships in shipping freight without having to go all around the African Continent. The Middle East it is still on the African continent.
Don't take my word for it but instead do your own research - pull out a map. Do search of the Suez Canal and see what you find.

Peace, problem is that the photo of John Hanson, is that if photography wasn't invented until 1839 and the so called black J. H. was taken, in or around 1781 or later. So if that's the issue i will pose another, how was the picture of the european John Hanson taken and who put it in history for all to see and believe? European, thru out the past 4000 to 5000 years have always wrote history from the conquer point of view. So if the so called black people want to big themselves up it's alright.Because the thief will never return your true identity cause you ask him to,it's not in his best interest to help you to become whole. This is a very interesting discussion, I am from England and I have always been curious about the way things are on the planet especially religon. My mother always taught me to research things for myself and to look at the world from a different perspective. It is true that the mass population have been lied to for thousands of years, the lies help to progress some races, keep other races stagnant and hold others back. The Bible and other religious books are one of the main tools (although now T.V and the Media are used aswell much more), there is truth in all of these books as you cannot get a lie without it, the trick is to find out what is true and what has been put there to control you. Anybody looking for truth especially Brown (black) people should go back as far as possible and learn the original languages, Cunneiform being the first written for us by the Ancient Sumerians, as all these books have been translated (alot of them mis-translated) from original scrolls and tablets, e.g the Gilgamesh Epics which tells the real story of Noah's Ark (his real name was Utnafishtim) and you will get alot closer to where you come from and where you are going. You will not be told the truth at school, Forget History (His-Story) and concentrate on studying Mysteries (My-Story). When we were enslaved they took our books, our religions, our languages, our names (which meant things and had certain sound waves), our culture, our identities and most of all our pride in who we were, and what did they give us the BIBLE. They made us believe that the their God with his blond hair, blue eyes and white skin (the total opposite of us) would save us.... HELLO... You cannot and should not expect your enslavers God to help you, find out who you ORIGINALLY aspired to (the beings we aspired to weren't called God this is a European word, find out the real names because they are extremely important) and look to yourself for help because ultimately you are the only person that can really help you, you are the god you are looking for. With regards to Barack Obama I have no respect for him he stands there listening to brothas and sistas saying he is the first and he knows he is not he is either the 7th or 8th and Abraham Lincoln was one of them, Google 'The Six black Presidents'. There have been many brown men that have tried to bring change, Martin Luther King, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, and today Dr Malachi Z York to name a few and where are they now, DEAD or in PRISON. WHY !!!, because by telling us truths they were and still are a threat to the Puppet Masters, I don't believe Obama will do anything great and wonderful for brown (black) people or any other people because he is not in charge just like Bush and all the others before him. They are merely puppets, this planet is run by a handful of people (beings) that have nothing on their agenda but to stay in power which means suppressing us, they twist everything and turn things upside down, they are in control of the media, schools, religion, justice systems, our food, our children, our health, our minds, ultimately our lives and if we allow them they are also in control of our destiny's. If you know your history, then you'll know that the United States wasn't a country until the constitution we have now was in place. Before that, we were a union of SEPERATE states. Each 13 states had it's own constitution that it followed and no other state had to.
