Nappy Headed Ho t-shirts, teddy bears, backpacks and bibs?

Are people actually buying these things?

Why are so obsessed with Don Imus?

Since last week, Don Imus -- one of the most prominent broadcasters in the U.S.-- has made a stunning departure after he made comments calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos."

No one is denying that his comments are reprehensible, however the media frenzy that has followed (Time cover, 24/7 Imus coverage) and the online buzz that won't go away (YouTube videos and Flickr photo compilations) is somehow questionable.

Why is this story really getting so much play?

There has been a bombing in Iraq's parliament, long thought to be Baghdad's most secure section that reportedly has killed over a dozen people.

Australia's Prime Minister's announced that he won't allow HIV immigrants into the country.

And scientists may have found the gene that makes us fat.

Yet, people are still talking about Imus.

What's the deal?

"This phrase that I use, it originated in the black community. That didn't give me a right to use it, but that's where it originated. Who calls who that and why? We need to know that. I need to know that."

And it’s not like Imus’ career is over. Look at the sexist, racist morons with shows - Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Bill O’Reilly.

The Media feeds to the lowest common denominator best as I can see it. Between Idol's Sanjaya, Anna Nicole Smilth, and now Imus. Basically with this feeding frenzy it's a lot of "OOOH! Look at what he said!" type gossip that everyone can repeat without being the source.
