The Interminable Sound Check at The Media Club

I found myself at the Media Club on Friday night at around 10 pm with my attorney. The band moving around on stage was Mobile,
a band I didn’t know much about. Given
that there was no cover – unusual for a night of live music at the Media Club –
we figured we’d stick around. An hour
later we were still waiting for the sound check to end. The band finally played one song which would
have sounded equally bland without the endless ‘check 1-2-3’s that preceded it. We decided it best that we ourselves became
mobile and moved on to my new favorite Vancouver
watering hole, the Brickyard.
