A world without ring tones, laptops, and digital cameras seems so far away, yet so quiet and even peaceful.

Staying outrageously silent in a sea of beeps and buzzes, blasphemously eschewing electricity whether from plugs or batteries, these inventions remind us that there was once a time when we were expected to write novels using only levers and ink, wait hours if not days to see what pictures we took, and get our butts up off the couch to change channels by hand.
