The Onion News Network launches tomorrow, and its fearless leader is promising that fans who want to share the video won't face the same harrassment that awaits YouTubers who post stuff owned by Viacom.

This article in today's Washington Post is very interesting on a number of fronts, and makes me wonder whether The Onion, a private (and closely) held enterprise, may be searching around for a new way to capitalize on viral video. \

So following that invitation, you might consider posting your own fake-news video to NowPublic.

NEW YORK -- Having already blossomed as a newspaper, Web site and book publisher, The Onion  -  perhaps the most dominant provider of fake news anywhere _ - is bringing its brand of humor to the hot medium of the moment: Online video.

The dispatches on the Onion News Network, which goes live Tuesday, aren't likely to be causing much missed sleep over at CNN and Fox News Channel, unless those outlets start covering fake news stories like Civil War re-enactors being dispatched to Iraq.
