The Payroll Site has responded to requests from Mac users and has redesigned its online payroll service to work using the Safari browser. Safari 2.0 is officially supported from 27th March 2007. Until now, a Mac user wishing to use the system had to install Firefox, Netscape or Internet Explorer on their Mac.

Steven Tucker, Managing Director of The Payroll Site Ltd said: "Many of our customers use Macs and we take their views seriously. We have been listening to them, and they have overwelmingly told us that they want to use Safari.". He added "Our site is all about convenience - saving time and trouble. We support Safari to make it that bit more convenient for users of Mac OSX, giving them the option to use their favourite browser."

The online payroll service provided by The Payroll Site is a modern alternative to traditional software packages and bureau style services. Customers use an ordinary web browser to securely access a centrally-managed service, without the need for them to install any software. The service allows the customer to calculate and print payslips at any time, from any location, without being tied to a single computer. It is designed to put the customer in control at all times, whilst freeing them from the headaches of software installation, upgrades and backups.

Kenny Tucker, Technical Director of The Payroll Site Ltd said "The nature of the site requires it to present a large amount of information in an understandable way. Supporting Safari has involved several design changes, but also retesting every single feature of the system to check that the pages are clear and easy to use in Safari. The website is frequently updated to support changes in tax rules and to add new features. Every time a change is made, we make a point of fully testing it in every supported browser. It is a lot of effort, but it is the only way we can be sure our customers won't have any problems when they use the site."

The service was launched in April 2004 and is based on a simple monthly subscription, starting at £5 per month including technical support. A free trial is available via a simple online signup, and no annual contract is required. A multi-company option is also available, for accountants and bookkeepers who find it more convenient to manage all of their clients from a single account.
