The Pearl Harbor Strike Force

"At least 350 Japanese planes swarmed over Oahu. Five American
battleships were sunk. The back of the Arizona was broken in a
catastrophic explosion, actually captured on film. It remains today a
memorial to the attack. The Oklahoma rolled over and was eventually
righted but never returned to service. The battleships California,
Nevada, and West Virginia all sank much like the Italian battleships at
Taranto, and all were raised and returned to service by 1943. The
Pennsylvania was seriously damaged but, being in drydock at the time,
was much easier to repair. The Maryland and Tennessee endured moderate
to serious damage but did not sink. A sixth battleship, the Utah, was
also sunk, but it was already only being used as a target ship. The
Japanese pilots, warned not to waste ordinance on the Utah, hit it
anyway."
