The Power of the People
Look at this picture: It is from a protest that took place at Rabin Square a few days ago, in the heart of Tel-Aviv.
100,000 people from across the spectrum, religious, secular, right, left, from the cities and from the countryside, the old and young, gather tonight to demand that Olmert resign and take advantage of the opportunity to throw in other current events going on right now that they are fighting. You can read more about here in English, and here in Hebrew.
I’m not about to get into what triggered this event or my personal views on the subject., Right now, that is totally irrelevant.

It has been proven over and over again that our thoughts create our reality. What we think, what we feel and what manifests - is always a match.
Mother Theresa once said “I will never attend an anti-war rally; if you have a peace rally, invite me.” She understood the incredible ‘ways of the world’.
Now look at the picture again:

Can you feel it? Can you envision you are there? Do you hear the cries of the tens of thousands of sad and frustrated protesters? Can you hear the speeches? The angry speeches? And the heart-breaking speeches from families who lost their soldiers to the war? Can you see the big screens and the helicopter flying above the masses and the police working to keep everything and everyone under control?
I cant help but wonder what good could this whole situation really be doing to us as a country, as a nation. What do these people really hope to achieve? That Olmert resigns?
Ok, let’s just say they succeed…
The question is: then what? Then will they be happy? Will that prove
to be the solution?

Shira79, thanks for improving your story -- I can see you've put more effort into it. I've removed the flag and now more readers can see it. Thanks for your contribution.

Shira79, after reading your article, and taking your earnest admonition to really look at the photos, I then went down and read the comments. What Egoigwe wrote stopped me:
"Now this what I'm talking about .... the whole of my country, Nigeria, needs to see this ... AND LEARN FROM IT!!!"
This is so deeply inspiring: a contributor from Nigeria, reading a contributor's deeply moving story from Israel - inspires global engagement.
You have confirmed once again why citizen-generated news is so vital to the future of our planet.
Please accept my gratitude for your contribution to peace.

Shira79, fantastic stuff. Everyone up above in the comment queue took all the good words, so I'll just say, "Nice one"!

A similar rally was held in Spain several years ago - hw was it promoted? Simple, through people sending text messages to each other's mobile phones. It brought a change in Government
They are called flash mobs
egoige - maybe this can also work in Nigeria - a country that has embraced and uses mobile phones so much.
