More Terminator films are slated for production, though they will be unlikely to star Arnold "Give Me Your Clothes, Your Boots and Your Motorcycle" Schwarzenegger.

The 'Terminator' will be back, thanks to a new takeover by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson.

The pair have bought the rights to the film franchise, which has
already scored three blockbuster hits, from producers Andy Vajna and
Mario Kassar, and they're planning to have a fourth film in cinemas by
2009.

It's unlikely that Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as the title
character and no director has been attached to the fourth 'Terminator'
film.

The new movie will center around character John Connor, who was a
teenager in the first 'Terminator films,' as he leads mankind on a
futuristic battle against machines taking over the planet.

The new owners of the franchise are going for a full-court press:
Halcyon says it also now owns all future merchandising and licensing
rights as well as, "certain future revenues derived from Terminator 3:
Rise of the Machines, as well as certain rights in the television
project The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the sole right to produce all
future Terminator projects in any new or existing media".
There is a lot of money to be made in robots beating the electrocrap out of each other, even if Schwarzenegger isn't to take part.

The movie franchise that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a household name now has plans for another three installments. Schwarzenegger, who starred in the first three Terminator flicks, may not make it back for a fourth. It seems that taking care of his duties as Governor of California is more important than saving humanity from cyborgs.

It has been nearly four years since Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines hit theaters capping a trilogy that raked in over $1 billion world-wide.

The Halcyon Company, which purchased the rights to the franchise, has already hinted that the next Terminator film will begin a new trilogy. The production company is already trying to get preproduction started so that they may roll the film out in the summer of 2009.
