 HBO's award-winning police drama, The Wire, returns to it's Sunday
night perch starting September 10th at 10pm.

The new season follows the lives of four middle school kids and their
day to day dealings with Baltimore's rough urban environment.

Executive Producer and Creator, David Simon, aims to show viewers the
harsh reality of life on the streets, and how it can influence the younger
generation both socially and academically.

"We've convinced ourselves that people who fail in this society fail
because they've chosen to," says Simon. "We believe that if
you want to work hard here, you can make it to the top. But if you come
out of a school in Baltimore where you can barely read, it's doubtful
that if you work hard you're going to make it to the top of anything."

Season 4 also examines the relationship between inner city youth and some
of the thug-like characters who ruled the streets in previous episodes.

"Who are the Avons and Stringers and Omars, where did they come from?
Are they so vastly different from us, or are they exactly us?"

"This season is really a preamble to everything you've seen on The
Wire before."
