About THOMAS JOHN TAYLOR
To Whom It May Concern: A Biography of an American Artist living in the Pacific Islands of Hawaii.
My Art Career started as a youth of 7 years of age in the community of West Allis, Wisconsin where I was attending school at Washington Elementary on 64th and Lapham Street. The District had a juried Art Show for every child in the elementary category and I took home the Blue Ribbon for my oil/painting of the Washington Monument measuring 3ft X 20in. I was Artdicted ever since. I have always used my creative abilities to support myself in a manner of wealth and pleasure afforded a few.
At 62 years of age I am one of the most proliferate Artists ever in the history of Hawaii. I presently, have hundreds of Images, in my possession and continue to be creative everyday. I managed to survive my trekking experiences, in 54 countries ,and spread my work around the World, thru the support of gracious benefactors, that paid for my Images, with money, and trades, for goods and services. I look back on the constant state of affairs, with my financial ability to mismanage, and am stupefied, as to how it all works. I was in Tibet and didn’t have supplies, but a local approached me with a wooden box, full of supplies from Germany, some other Trekker left. It contained pigments, brushes, knives, linseed and stand oil with a few large tubes of White and a few squares of canvas that had been covered with “Old School” Gesso, that consisted of French Rabbit skin glue. Because of my Luck, I was able to complete 3 mountainous images when the flowers were in bloom and negotiate them into enough currency and transportation to India, in the Beach Community of Goa. Art, was my Salvation this entire Life, and my Mistress. I t allowed me to avoid hard Labor and strenuous activity. I have always been spoiled and lived a life of luxury for no other reason than Art. Now, I have no Gallery or even get out to try and sell my Images and still manage too, every so often. I also trade and barter and have acquired numerous costly items like my Mercedes-Benz, and a Nikon Camera with a 30mm to 130mm telescoping lens, plus vacations all expense’s paid at a Resort called Paniolo Greens for 10 days. I owe this all to God’s Gift and my continued application of Oil/Canvas.
My travels into primitive areas with indigenous people has always been a Great Influence on me and I always tried to reciprocate their generosity with a fair exchange of knowledge and goods I brought and decided to leave, like my Images. This is a Magnificent Existence and an unbelievable journey as I continue to Create “Original” Images in the medium of Oil/Canvas.
My personal Life is Private because I am not successful in Relationships. I believe it is an additional disability to the others I have, that allows me a pension with a 100% rating from the Veterans Administration and HUD’s voucher program that pays half the rent, and the $76 worth of food stamps granted because of my financial status in “Paradise”. I live in a Resort Hotel Studio, with a Kitchenette, on the Ocean, in Reeds Bay, and we have a Laundromat, and a pool. We have a 30 acre Park, that is the largest Japanese Garden outside of Japan. It is my front yard, and the ocean is my backyard, where I can swim with the giant turtles, and occasional dolphins, with whales offshore, in the winter season. I am working on my tan and surfing on the web with my free connectivity. ALOHA
