Three people were seriously injured today when fifteen stories of scaffolding collapsed at a new accommodation and hotel construction site in central Milton Keynes, England. Emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes of the collapse and at least two of the injured were taken off by air ambulance. Up to 200 workers are currently employed on the site but by good fortune, many were on their lunch break when the incident occurred; other than the three evacuated to hospital, others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both infra red cameras and tracker dogs were employed in the search for survivors. Officials have stated that all those at the scene have now been accounted for.

Sirs,

I am a professional Engineer and independent Expert Witness, involved in scaffolding collapse investigations and legal proceedings in UK Courts.  I have read with interest news comments that scaffolding regulations are good in the UK.  I do not agree.  There are many anolamlies, gaps, and lack of sound engineering sense, which in my opinion and expereince can and do lead to major scaffolding failures. If I can be of service to any of the victims, or parties in this catastrophe, in the inerests of justice, I would naturally be pleased to hear from them, in confidence on listerw@listavia.co.uk.

Sirs,

I am a professional independent Expert Witness, involved in scaffolding collapse investigations and legal proceedings in UK Courts.  Contrary to recent news reports that rules and regulations covering the construction and use of scaffolding in the UK are excellent, my experience tells me otherwise.  There are, in my opinion, many anomalies and engineering flaws in the design and construction of scaffolding, which can and do lead to serious accidents.  If, in the interests of justice, I can be of service to any of the victims, or parties in this catastrophe, I would be pleased to help.
