I started at NowPublic as Deputy News Director, moved on to News Director and am now the Director of Marketing/SEO. I have over a decade of experience working in online media as a writer, editor and SEO/SEM/SMO consultant. I am formally trained in Psychology, but have built my career in Internet journalism and website promotion.

I started writing by accident rather than design. After graduating from the University of British Columbia I became pregnant with my daughter. When she was born I felt an overwhelming urge to stay home with her but didn’t want to put my career on hold. With a little luck and a lot of hard work I managed to be both a stay-at-home Mom and career journalist.

I have written as a freelancer for both online and traditional media. For the past 10 years I have worked with About.com in a variety of roles; as a contributing writer, feature columnist, and Guide/Editor.

Most of my work has been in the entertainment and lifestyles genre, but I have had extensive hands-on training in all areas of web journalism. I earned my Internet journalist stripes in the trenches of the World Wide Web as opposed to a classroom, and I am proud of that fact.

Working from home may seem like a dream but it has a downside… a serious lack of (adult) human interaction. So, after 10 years, I decided to return to the workplace. That is how I came to Now Public, and I am very happy to be here. Feel free to drop me an email for any reason; I’m here to help you.
