Top beach volleyballers play on Gold Coast

The country's best beach volleyballers will hit the sand at Surfers Paradise today in the Volleyball Tour Australian Championships.

Five rounds have been held at venues around Australia in the past four months.

Gold Coast competitor Nicole Sanderson says it will be a tough event, with gold medal Olympian Natalie Cook among the field.

"This is the best field we've had in the Australian tour so far this year," she said.

"It's going to be a very tough tournament and I think it is really going to come down to who can perform on the day.

"It's going to be a very, very close competition."

The championships finish on Sunday.
