If you're going to have a cycling event it needs a French name. After all, the Tour de Gastown sounds less likely to involve the steam clock than the Gastown Tour. With annual crowds totaling almost 40,000, the legendary Tour de Gastown, organized by the Wedgewood Cycling Team on behalf of the Gastown Business Improvement Society, is one of the most famous races in Canada and the centerpiece of BC SUPERWEEK; British Columbia's most prestigious week of bike racing, and now another great fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation!Run over a super-fast 1.2 km course, the Tour de Gastown features North America's top riders battling wheel-to-wheel for more than $15,000 in cash prizes and a chance to add their name to a stellar list of past winners, which includes Alex Stieda and seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.
