There were major traffic jams into and out of Richmond as RCMP prepared for an emergency landing. The roads have now been reopened as the plane is safely on the ground.

An Airbus has made an emergency landing at YVR this evening, after reporting a flap problem shortly after taking off.. The flight has 290 people on board including passengers and crew. The Cathay Pacific Airbus was leaving for Hong Kong from YVR when the pilot dispatched tower with the emergency, and began dumping fuel prior to landing. The plane successfully touched down at YVR at 5:00pm.

Richmond RCMP had shut down many of the bridges around the airport in anticipation for the emergency, but reopened all of the routes before the plane began its approach.
