A NEW SERVICE THAT IS C02 FRIENDLY AND CLAIMS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF LOST BAGGAGE

The number of suitcases lost in global travelling could be dramatically reduced if a newly developed owner identification service is adopted by the airlines in their airport baggage handling areas. According to data from the Associate of European Airlines (AEA), across the 24 largest airlines more than 5.6 million bags went missing in 2006, an average of 15.7 bags per 1,000 travelers.

Dereck Jones IT Director and Spokesman for the company said, We launched the Baggage PIN service back in June 2007. The problem in the past has been that either people leave their cases without holder identity or they use unreliable labeling systems which advertise the baggage owner's home address leaving their property open to attack. Also such tags often come adrift in transite making it impossible to identify who owns the item of lost baggage. Technology is not the solution to solving the issue of lost baggage either. RFID tags don't wok everywhere and such systems are very expensive to install and maintain. We developed the Baggage PIN tag based upon two assumption's. The first being that Airports world wide have access to the Internet  and the second being that their staff have eye's and will be able to read the Baggage PIN tag codes. If these two criteria are met the system will be able to identify lost baggage owner's quickly and cost effectivily. The Baggage PIN solution is easy to use, does not require Airports to invest large sums of money in RFID tag systems and it works anywhere in the world.

Airlines spend millions each year flying items of lost Baggage around the world trying to return them to their passengers. This practice is neither sensible or C02 friendly and has to stop. Baggage PIN is a simple and flexible automated system intended to provide discrete secure communication between the Airline's Baggage Handlers and lost baggage owners, facilitated by a coded tag that is securely fixed to each suitcase by a coded security strap. Owners must initially subscribe to the system on line at http://www.baggagepin.com, paying a nominal fee for the membership period which covers an unlimited number of bags. Members are required to complete their personal travel profile data webpage.

Each year many passengers suffer the stress of loosing their baggage whilst traveling and also mis their flights due to un-attended baggage security scares in Airport terminals. Here at Baggage PIN Ltd we have been working hard to develop a easy to use and reliable solution to combat the issues that surround lost baggage.  The UK goverment are attempting to introduce a universal identity card system that they claim would reduce fraud and enable control authorities to track people's movements when required. Such a scheme is likely to be expensive and long winded to introduce and is likely to do little to resolve the lost baggage problem.

The Baggage PIN solution is basically a baggage passport but could be applied to just about anything or anyone since the personal unique number code issued to member's is allocated to them for life. Once the number code is issued it can be used to protect cars, personal items or anything people wish to protect.

The data keyed in by members personal travel profiles can be accessed by authorised airline system users  giving the airlines the information they have previously lacked to take the necessary steps to contact the legal owner by sending them a text to their mobile to arrange the return or forwarding of their item of lost baggage to the required destination.

The system also enables Airport operators and control authorities to quickly identify the owners of unattended baggage items removing the need to evacuate people and minimising the loss to sales revenues. The service provides airlines and their baggage handling agents with lost baggage statistics and management information to improve the baggage services provided to passengers.  The company have developed a Baggage PIN blister packs to enhance their service to the public. This new product enables people to purchase their tag from a retail agent removeing the need to purchase online. It's possible to activate memberships automatically using a mobile phone anywhere on earth which is very convenient for people and high-lights the uniqueness of this product;

Dereck Jones, Spokesman and IT Director of Baggage PIN comments: “Baggage PIN Ltd are working hard to help solve the problems associated with Lost Baggage the company we're recently awarded Lloyds TSB new business ward and are currently in talks with some of the major UK Airline companies to fully adopt Baggage PIN as their preferred method of finding the legal owners of mislaid baggage. Baggage PIN offers an inbuilt SMS / text system allowing baggage handling agents to contact the owners of mislaid baggage quickly and free of charge. Membership is growing on a daily basis with many more potential customers waiting to sign up.” The new service is also likely to be a boon to insurance companies, who deal with a growing number of claims each year resulting in escalating premiums. It could also be applied to operators of other forms of travel, such as rail, coach and ferry.

Baggage PIN has been developed by Bytec Solutions Ltd, a group of computer technologists who are particularly experienced in creating and analysing secure data systems, in conjunction with airport baggage handlers.

Dereck Jones said "passengers need to play their part in helping Airlines and their Baggage Handling Agents to be able to quickly contact them in order to retun their baggage when it gets lost. I believe that people power is the way forward - if you loose you're baggage whilst traveling you want it back quickly - it's plain not funny, and costs the insurance industry millions in lost revenue every year!

For our part the company are offering Airlines and Baggage Handling Agntes FREE ACCESS to the Baggage PIN web-portal , I belive people will love the service becuase we have put baggage owners and passengers back in control of the situation. With the help of the press and world media Baggage PIN can make a big difference for everybody, the service enhances Airport security  and will improve people's travel experiances.

Baggage PIN Ltd have developed strong charity links and support all UK Air Ambulance Operators. We encourage people to donate 25% of their annual membership fee to the Air Ambulance Operator of their choice. Dereck Jones said Its about making a difference to people's quality of life and travel experiances and to this end I believe we have achiaved our goal.

Baggage PIN Ltd is dedicated to working towards making lost baggage at our Airports and travel hubs a thing of the past, and we really value you're support. We think British Airways should offer their passengers the Baggage PIN service for free as it would solve many lost baggage problems.

Dereck Jones said, We offered British Airways free access and usage of the system, but they declined our offer? replying "You're service work's well, and would be great for hand baggage however British Airways does not have a Lost baggage Problem. I would be interested to hear readers comments.

needs improvement:

This seems more like an advert than a newsworthy in this story. I suppose it could be a press release if there was more

detail on the problem that this product purports to solve, and how it changes the industry; an ideal press release is "here's what we're doing", not "here's what we're selling".
