Passenger riots shut Buenos Aires airports
The original flight cancellations by Aerolineas Argentinas, the country's flagship carrier, were caused by a series of walkouts by baggage handlers and ticket counter workers. The subsequent violence and disturbances affected all other airlines at the airport, including American Airlines, which also canceled flights, according to its office at the airport.
12:30 am local time: with the bulk of the disruptive passengers removed from the terminal and many others postponing their travel, it appears that American Airlines (and perhaps some other airlines) are attempting to resume flying.
2:30 am local time: flights on carriers other than Aerolineas Argentinas have begun to resume, with some airlines running consolidated flights for passengers headed to the US. It is expected that full operations for most non-Argentinian airlines will return to normal within the next one to two days.
