Motorists are facing delays after a lorry carrying shotgun cartridges caught fire on the M42.

The M42 northbound is closed between its junction with the M5 and junction 1 at Catshill, Worcestershire.

It is expected to remain closed until lunchtime so the motorway can be resurfaced.

A fire service spokesman said crews had to call in a military adviser to help them bring the fire under control because of the cartridges.
