(February 1, Vancouver, Canada) - After its first month of operation, Footstops.com has donated all of its revenue to COPE - an NGO dedicated to providing artificial limbs to landmine victims in Laos. This will be the first of many monthly donations from the web's first humanitarian-driven non-profit travel community. Focusing on aid rather than profits, Footstops users vote from a list of monthly charities to determine which cause will be the recipient of that month's donation.

January's proceeds will fund an artificial leg and two walking frames. Upon receiving notification about this month's donation, COPE representative, Mike Boddington, expressed "grateful surprise" and vowed to offer "continued support" in the future. While Footstops is still operating at a very grass-roots level, it has established a niche that is growing by the day.

Combining the traditional free travel blog with unlimited photos, videos, Google Map integration, and driving awareness to charitable organizations around the globe, Footstops has begun to set itself apart from its online peers. Through five months of Beta testing and one month of public use, Footstops has seen a strong growth in memberships and page views. Money for Footstops is generated through advertising, donations and merchandise. Creator/programmer/designer Bryan Rite has overseen the project from its beginning and now manages a small team of dedicated volunteers.

"The beauty of Footstops is in its ability to offer a traditional blog community feel while harnessing the power of the community to help us make a real difference in a troubled world." - Bryan Rite - Founder

"People are really getting behind the concept of this site, using it, and telling their friends. While the charities will change from month to month, the message is going to remain the same." - Alan Stremel - Marketing

"Footstops has the chance to become the first of many communities for a generation of travelers concerned with the direction humanity is heading and with the desire to help." - Bryan Rite - Founder

Potential charities for the month of February are: Carolina For Kibera, Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation, Students for a Free Tibet and Amazon Watch.
