MIAMI A small tropical depression formed late Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean northeast of the Leeward Islands, forecasters said. The depression had sustained winds near 30 mph (48 kph) and could strengthen into a tropical storm Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center. Tropical storms sustain winds of at least 39 mph (63 kph). The next tropical storm would be named Gordon, the seventh of the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season.
