Last week was a crazy week of weather across the world.  And we start this week off with snow in Tucson, AZ.

More than a foot of snow fell on parts of northern Arizona, and several more inches were possible Monday, while children as far south as Tucson got a rare chance to play in the snow as one of the strongest storms of the winter moved through the state.

Sunday's storm came amid a wave of winter storms that have brought snow, ice and strong winds to the Plains region, but also to the Southwest, including Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.

Sure, Arizona schoolkids are happy, but what about the rest of us?  Jackknifed trucks.  Closed highways.  No electricity.  At least 11 traffic fatalities.

Forget about future doom.  We're already in a crisis!

Won't somebody please, please save us from the menace of global cooling!??!

Arizona has been known for a few things over the years. Vast sprawl, continuing water shortages, an education level that is on par +/- to that of Mississippi, but for a brief glimpse, it has something that most states have on a yearly basis, snow. We are now given to an element that has rarely been felt in state that is below 4000 feet.

Yet, here we are, for the first time since October of 1996 faced with something that hasn't reared it head in a while, Jack Frost. A person that Snowbirds every year flee from their own home states for weather that in most places would be considered to be spring. He took up hotel room here for a night, possibly two, depending on weather he particulary likes this quiant area of world for another round of snow.

No one could have predicted this development. Jack Frost coming to Tucson. He passed over Phoenix the day before, finding the metropolis to be a little large for his liking. I wouls suspect that it had more to do with the traffic and drivers that seem to inhabit the area.

Jack Frost came to Tucson, bring his own brand of dandruff with him and in the process confussing the holy smell out everyone here. Roads closed, bridges defrosted with hairdryers, schools closed and people, who have never seen snow outside of a large pile of cocaine or a movie, claiming that they can drive in these conditions in the same manner that they have driven on any normal day. Discounting the fact that the arid nature of the city and minute amounts of oil that leaks and collects on the roads lead to a disasterous resluts.

Arizona, it's known for plastic surgery, bad education, water shortages and idiot drivers.

well well, Tucson got some snow. I posted my snow pictures on Flickr. My mom sent them to me. She'd taken them from her yard, and it looked quite different with its pretty downy blanket. I live in New York City, where this years winter hasn't produced anything sofar except foor a few flakes that quickly melt away.
