Turks.US- Italy Seeks Idictment of US Soldier

The ANSA news agency reported on Monday, June 19, 2006, Italian prosecutors are seeking the indictment of a US soldier over the shooting of an Italian intelligence officer at a checkpoint in Iraq last year. Nicola Calipari, 51, was shot dead while escorting Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena, who had been released by kidnappers in Iraq. US officials have said the vehicle was traveling fast and soldiers opened fire because they feared a militant attack. Italian officials say the car was traveling at a normal speed.
