Two more Israeli soldiers captured.
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) _ Israel calls it an "act of war" and the U-S calls it "a very dangerous escalation" -- the capture of two Israeli soldiers today by Hezbollah guerrillas.
Israel has responded to the cross-border raid with an air, ground and sea assault on southern Lebanon. Ground forces, backed up by gunboats, warplanes and artillery, are hunting for the missing soldiers and trying to keep the guerrillas from moving them deeper into Lebanon.
Arab television reports at least seven Israeli soldiers were killed and several wounded during the initial fighting.
Lebanese security officials say two civilians were killed by Israeli air strikes on a bridge, part of an operation apparently aimed at cutting off escape routes. Amid the new fighting, the Israeli military is calling up several thousand reservists.
The latest turmoil comes even as Israel continues a two-week-old operation in Gaza aimed at freeing a soldier captured by Palestinian militants last month. Hamas, signaling an alliance with Hezbollah, is demanding release of all Arab prisoners held by Israel.
BLOOD TO BLOOD.
