UFOs in Northamptonshire UK
The first UFO sighting ever recorded in Northamptonshire was in 1387. Many more sightings have gone unreported.
In Towcester in 2000 I witnessed a strange glider type craft over Summerfield supermarket car park. Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me at the time.
December 1387
A "fire in the sky, like a burning and revolving wheel..." was seen in Leicester and Northamptonshire, England. The objects "emitted fire from above, and others in the shape of long, fiery beams".
A SERIES of bright coloured UFOs have been spotted hovering above Northampton by two witnesses in the middle of the night.
The cluster of lights were seen 'dancing' in the sky above Broadmead Avenue, Abington by hairdresser Paul Symeou, aged 44, at 11.50pm on Tuesday before being spotted again just ten minutes later by another man in Moulton.
Mr Symeou said: "I was lying on my bed with the windows and curtains open because it was so hot when all of a sudden the room turned pink.
"I didn't know what on earth it was. At first I thought it was a helicopter but there was absolutely no noise coming from it and in know helicopters don't have pink lights."
After Mr Symeou watched the lights for a few seconds they disappeared then returned five minutes later.
A MAN spotted two jellyfish like objects which he could only describe as UFOs flying over his Daventry home.
On the same day an hour before a cameraman recorded footage of similar colour and shape vessels in the night sky in Worcestershire.
Adrian Dalton, 32, of Hemans Road, Daventry was standing in his back garden with his son on Tuesday, July 22 between 10pm and 10.30pm.
He first became aware of them when he saw two black objects in the distance which he thought were birds. Next thing, they were above his home.
He said: "They were like two brown jellyfish in the sky, they looked like they were swimming and I had not taken any drugs."
In the UK there are reports of strange aerial phenomena back at least to the turn of the century and maybe several centuries before that. For example, on 23rd March 1909 PC M. Kettle of Peterborough (which was then part of Northamptonshire) reported a strange airship. There were many other reports of this object from around the country. Throughout 1909 there were many similar reports around the world of these mystery airships. One of our members working on a project on early UFO reports for the British UFO Research Association has found references to Northamptonshire reports from the 1790s.
Since that time there have been many other reports throughout Northamptonshire. Around 1954/55 an eight year old boy was digging in his garden near Rushden when he saw a strange ovoid shaped cloud and heard a voice giving him instructions. He has also had a number of subsequent UFO experiences.
In May 1978 at 23:30 a witness saw strange manoeuvering lights in the sky over Finedon. In 1977 researchers carrying out a skywatch exercise saw two separate stratnge lights over Harrington. In 1980 a man in Northampton General hospital saw through the window a strange object over the town. There were several reports from the Corby area during the 1980s. In 1994 a Harringworth woman awoke at about 04:15 on morning and observed four or five white lights. In 1997 a woman from Kingsthorpe in Northampton reported round red objects moving fast over the town. In October 1998, two witnesses from Kingsthorpe reported seeing two triangular objects moving from the south to the north. The two objects were seen a few minutes apart.
On 22nd November 1978 a Nortamptonshire lady was on her journey home from work at 17:15 when she saw a dumbbell shaped object over the A5 road near Weedon. She passed under the object then turned off the main road into a lane which lead to her house. As she drove up the lane the engine of her car stalled and she observed strange lights dancing around the car. When the lights disappeared the car engine re-started and she was able to continue her journey. Fortunately the witness sat down and wrote a detailed description of what she had seen whilst the details were still fresh in
her mind. The witness, Mrs Oakensen has written a book "One Step Beyond" describing her UFO experiences and the events that followed. A similar object was reported approximately two hours later by four ladies who saw it near Preston Capes, about four miles from Weedon.
On Wednesday 20th June 1984 a witness saw an object over Northampton. At 40 minutes past midnight he saw what he describes as being a Chinese lantern. It was an octagonal object about 20 feet long and 35 feet in height. At each of its 8 corners there was an orange light. It made a sound like electricity shorting out and there were occasional blue sparks. The witness estimates that the object could not have been more than 100 feet from the ground. It passed within 35 yards of the observer. Then the lights went out and it just vanished. There were reports from other people of strange lights seen over that part of Northampton at around the same time.
This witness has made several reports of other events seen on other occasions, including one near Great Houghton in March 1983. On that occasion he observed a small white sphere hovering above a nearby field. The engine of the motorcycle he was riding cut out, but restarted after the UFO had gone. To some of these UFO reports there are other independent witnesses adding strength to his story.
There have been a number of reports from the area around the villages of Great and Little Houghton, which are either side of the main A428 Northampton to Bedford road. There were a number of reports of strange lights seen in the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s from the area. There have been many reports since including a couple whose car was followed by a triangular formation of lights in 1972
I noticed a strange, dark object hovering in the sky and quickly grabbed my camcorder, alas only 10x zoom. Full resolution stills are available here - http://weblog.garyturner.net/?p=1686
Corby, Northamptonshire - January 14th 2007.
K.D. - a Polish skywatcher living in UK took a photo of a strange object while photographing birds in Corby [Northamptonshire] on 14th January 2007 at about 15:05.
Dozens of Unidentified Flying Objects have been spotted in the sky above Northamptonshire, secret Ministry of Defence files have revealed. For decades the MoD has been recording sightings of UFOs and, in some cases, calling in its experts to examine the reports in detail.
In Northamptonshire, according to the files released under the Freedom of Information Act, people have reported strange objects in the sky on 27 occasions since 1998.
The latest reported sighting in Northampton was in the evening of September 17 in 2003 when a person saw "two small, star-size objects that were dark orange or rust colour, which were followed by another two, doing manoeuvres".Three years earlier three objects, larger than a plane, which were shaped rectangular, square and hook, were spotted above Towcester and Brackley. The person who reported the UFOs said they were orange and brighter than Venus.
On the night of November 23 in 2000 a policeman reported seeing a large round pink object above the Eastern Districts of Northampton. The officer added that a handful of circular objects were attached to it.

On the 23rd of November 2008 at 1145pm I saw 2 aircraft with orange lights flying at the same speed but some distance apart,I grabbed my binoculars, but by the time i'd focused the lens the lights on the craft went out, as I scanned the night sky I saw two more orange lights coming from the right(south) and moving eastwards in the same direction as the previous crafts, the aircraft which appeared to be in the foreground was moving at the same speed as the first 2 craft but the one behind was dancing smoothly up down and in horizontal circular motions but was moving forward in the same direction as the others, the lights on the third craft seemed to go out but not on the last one which I managed to follow with my binoculars for another minute or so until it dissapeared in to the distance. It was the first freezing night of winter there were no clouds in the sky obscuring my view, every aircraft i've seen before and since have flashing lights, some green and red, others with a single flashing red light...the aircrafts I saw had bright rust orange lights which did not flash, that is to say they remained as bright orange unbroken lights, through the binoculars the lights appeared as glowing orange globes with a darker halo of lights which I assumed was because my binocular lens' were not up to the task,.I have since used my Binoculars to track other lights in the night sky with with no similar results.....I.m baffled!!!

I live on a farm on the Western edge of Northampton. Every evening my husband and Iwalk our boisterous collie dog along the bridle path near our house through to Harlestone and back, a distance of a mile each way. The afternoon of December 23rd 2005 we left home at 3.30pm as it is dark earlier this time of year. We reached the end of the path at 3.55 and turned to come back. It was a very bright, clear, frosty afternoon, the sun had set to our right and as we walked up the path we were looking at the areoplane trails against the red sunset. The path rises gently to the top of the hill and then drops quite steeply over the other side. I suddenly looked ahead and gasped "what's that?". Just above the horizon in front of us was a large dark grey Rugby-ball shaped object moving very fast from right to left ( it was a windless-evening). The object seemed to be pulsating as it moved, there were no lights; following it were two smaller Rugby-ball shaped objects moving at the same speed. We were amazed and quickened our speed to try to reach the top of the hill so we could see what these things were. It was difficult to judge the size as you couldn't tell how far away they were. When we reached the top of the hill, in two or three minutes, we were expecting to see these objects were still flying or had landed somewhere, but they had completely vanished. We were speechless, trying to think of an explanantion. As we walked down the path, when we came to about half-way across the field there was a very strong smell of scorched earth and burning pine-but there was no smoke in the sky and no wind. I'm very glad my husband was with me, because he would never have believed this if he hadn't seen it-he's normally very sceptical. We have never been able to explain this sighting, and have never seen anything since, and we still walk the dog virtually every evening. Iris Green. Nobottle, Northampton.

I was driving through harringworth towards seaton with my brother and his friend. We saw two lights to start with, then they would disappear then come back. I pulled over so my brother could video it on his phone, then a third appeared and they were in a triangle shape. When he tried to video them they weren't visible on his screen. I continued driving towards them and they disappeared completely.

I seen a A UFO that flew in the air quite fast at about 10:30pm on 28th June 2009. It was a nice night and the TV adverts were on so i deiceded to go out and sit outside thats when i spotted it an it was a sort of jellyfish shape, it was browny/black and it had a circle light at the bottom of it, and this light was flashing, it zoomed past, not to slow, but not to fast, i watched it for a good 7 - 8 seconds, unfortunately my camera was upstairs and i wouldnt have made it in time. I was in shock my mouth was wide open whilst watching. I then ran inside and called my mum!
